The Castle is situated on the hilltop, together with the churches "Our Lady of the Castle" at the entrance of the Castle and the church of "St. George", on the other side of the Castle.

The all-white church of "Our Lady, Portaitissa", a construction of the 18th century, is situated below the Castle. The windmills and snow-white houses, which surround the castle, offer a dream-like view to its visitors. In the "Hora" (main village), you will find many taverns serving fresh fish and for the island's nightlife, you will be enthused by the live island music, performed by the islanders playing lute, guitar and violin.

The spotless surrounding beaches offer you hours of swimming, rest and relaxation. You can take the bus to the other side of the island, a sea-side village known as Analipsi or Maltezana, were you will find sandy beaches and greenery. In Analipsi, you will also find many picturesque, historical churches: St. Barbara the church of the Ascension and the church of "Our Lady of Poularianis". At Vathi you can drive or go by boat, there you will find a variety of shellfish. For those who feel like walking do not forget to visit the Cave of the Dragon. At Livadi with it is fertile valley and fantastic beach of sand and pebbles you can visit the church of St. Vasilios (a characteristic example of 5th. century A.D. sovereignty with the mosaic in the front yard) or you can continue your journey for another 4 kilometers until you reach St. Constantinos one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. You can visit the surrounding islands by boat which offers you the chance to go fishing or swimming. Don't forget to try the local delicacies and buy local honey, cheese and drinks.
